Privacy policy

Short version: no accounts, no ads, no tracking cookies. We use what you search for only to find twins.

What we collect and why

• What you search for: the text, link or photo you give us. We use it to identify the product and find twins (legitimate interest: providing the service you asked for).
• Photos: resized on your phone, then stored for up to 6 hours so photo matching can run, and then deleted automatically. Please don't upload photos of people or anything personal.
• Search results: results for a product (not who searched) are kept for up to 90 days so repeat searches are instant and shared links keep working.
• Your IP address: turned into a one-way code and used only to apply daily search limits; kept for about a day.
• Technical logs: our host keeps short-lived request logs for security and fixing problems (a few days).
• Feedback: if you rate a twin, we store the rating against that result, not against you.

On your device

Your saved twins and search history are stored only in your browser (local storage). We can't see them. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Who helps us run Sameish

• Cloudflare: hosting and storage.
• Anthropic: the AI that identifies products and researches twins. It receives your search text or photo.
• SerpApi: fetches Google Shopping and Google Lens results, including product photos and, for photo searches, your photo's temporary link.

Some of these providers process data outside the UK (for example in the USA) under the safeguards UK law requires.

Shops and affiliate links

When you click through to a shop, that shop's own privacy and cookie policies apply. Affiliate networks may set cookies to record that you came from Sameish.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to access, correct or delete information about you, or object to how it's used. Email rndcpg@hotmail.co.uk. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Sameish is not for children under 13.
